ICAL Alumni Association Anniversary Conference 2023

An international conference marked twenty years of study and research in international arbitration at the Master Program of International Commercial Arbitration Law at Stockholm University. It brought together leading arbitration practitioners, academics, and arbitrators from around the world to reflect on whether the field had truly been mastered over the past two decades or whether a new blueprint was needed to address shifting legal questions, changing user expectations, and geopolitical challenges. The core question lingered: could the international arbitration community simply evolve, or was it time for a full reset?

The event featured a 1.5-day conference on 31 August and 1 September at the Modern Art Museum in Stockholm, followed by a gala dinner at the Vasa Museum on 1 September.

Additional networking activities took place on 30 and 31 August and 2 September, including events for young practitioners and D&I groups, an ICAL alumni lunch, sightseeing around Stockholm, and a post-conference brunch in the archipelago.
